I have a couple of quick questions for Promise Connect edition:
To access your V8i projects in the CONNECT Edition you must perform the following tasks:
C:\Program Files\Bentley\Promise CONNECT Edition\Promise\Electrical\SqlScripts\SQL_UpdateDB.sql
Does this method still apply if the V8i is currently connected to a networked microsoft SQL server? Im concerned that upgrading the existing database might break the current v8i usage for other members of staff, still currently using v8i?
1. RIght click context menu does work normally - but you'll have to click and hold a while (by default).
You can change the default behaviour here:
2. Regarding database.
in my opinion upgrading whole productive database is far too risky. It doesn't matter if it's local or networked. IMHO wiki should not advice it.Maybe after Update 5 or so.
It's better to set up new, empty database in CE (might be in the same instance of SQL Server, network or local) and then to restore individual projects from backups. While restoring, assing appropiate Workspace and Workset (you have to create them before).
For your testing purposes it might be better for you to set new database locally and make it networked later, to eliminate one potential source of problems while testing. You will have enough other problems and annoyances to go through ;-)

many thanks for your help. Adjusting the menu setting has made a difference.
I wasnt aware I could backup from v8i and restore in CE, Ive just tried this and it works really well. I think i'll stick with this method going forward.
