Cable symbol for Single Line Mode

Hi,

I'd like to create symbol for cable to represent it on Single Line Mode diagram (overview to cables used in project).

1. Which symbol type should be used? Just "cable" as for Schematic Mode?

I don't want to use standard cable symbol, as I need to display few cable attributes more as in Schematic Mode (length etc.)

2. How to place information about how much free cores are available in particular cable? I mean to show that information with the cable symbol in Single Line Mode.

For example, in Cable Report (Overview) there is dataSet 1.DataFIelds.WiresUsed which shows how much wires are used, but I need information how much free wires are available and show that info at Single Line Mode drawing.

Regards
Wojtek

  • Hi WojtekM,

The same cable symbol as used in schematic mode can be used in Single Line diagram Mode.
You have to assign a family to the cable, and its cross reference has to be defined in Wiring diagram mode.

The information about how much free cores available in a cable can be displayed in the cable cross reference symbol that is created in Wiring Diagram Mode.

Right clicking on the Cable symbol and go to Device ID which will open the device properties dialog. You can assign the family to the cable indicating the no. of cores to be used.

The device usage chart will show the cable conductors used by the cable.

However to show additional information to be shown can be displayed by using cable cross reference symbol. After placing the cable cross reference symbol in Wiring diagram mode , the same device tag that is assigned to the cable symbol is to be used and the same device family is to be assigned so as to display the cable conductors.
After using update Wiring diagram feature in Output>>Report and Graphical Output>>Update Wiring Diagram the cable cross reference symbol will show the additional information.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Lalitesh,

    thanks for your reply.

Yes, that feature I know, but I'd like to show literally how many cores are free (like adding text: "Free wires - 10").

In the wiring diagram (or Field Wire List report, respectively) user can see each free core, but has to count manually how many cores are free.

As I prefer using Field Wire List report over Cable Wiring Diagrams, I'd like to have that information:

    1) on Single Mode plan together with cable symbol, like on picture below, or

    2) or directly on the report.

I have one more question regarding cables, but I will rather start a new thread for it.

    Regards, Wojtek

  • Hi Wojtek,

For the concern of adding free cores in the report you can design the report template according to your requirements.
This can be done by using Report Template Designer.

Go to Manage>> Template Management>>Report Template Designer

    1.Click on New template.

2.Predefined report template can be selected or it can be customized by SQL statement.

3.In the report template designer by clicking on cell pointer table cell tasks ca be customized.

In the table cell tasks the report cells can be edited and rules can be assigned as per requirement.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Lalitesh,

In the table cell tasks the report cells can be edited and rules can be assigned as per requirement.

You have showed general rules for creating/editing reports, which are clear.

But my question is still unanswered.

Which data field used in report will show how many wires are available?

As far I can find only data field for how many wires are used:

I can't find data field responsible for how many wires are free.
