Hi, I've created a custom ribbon for our users in Promise CE and wondered if theres a way to copy that customisation across to multiple PCs, either through Promise UI or windows explorer?
I know there is a similar feature within Parts Database Manager through the customise layout screen, you can export and import configuration XML files. Thanks
Hi Adam,You can share your customization with multiple user by sharing the Personal.Promise.dgnlib file from the machine where the Ribbon has been customized with users machine so that they will also be able to user same customization. You can find the dgn lib file in below location. C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Local\Bentley\Promise\10.0.0\prefs\
Let us know if this helps with your concern.Regards,Satish Saptasagar

This worked perfectly, thank you very much
Better idea is to create and deploy shared workspace: https://communities.bentley.com/products/utility_network_analysis___design/w/utility_network_analysis_and_design_wiki/41385/deployment-guide---promis-e-connect-edition#h24sjo08bwx0ish8p71pfrfz71r96lkr
Shared workspace is really powerful tool. You can share between users almost anything you need without a need to manually copying dgnlibs to each user indyvidually.

This is a great idea, thanks Wojtek.
The only issue I can possibly see is we are now remotely working and while we do have access to a works server, this connection is only available once a VPN has been established etc.
We are currently using a file sync program to sync our catalogs, reports and templates within Promise SS8, I am thinking of using the same software to Sync the Workspace folder (with database files being excluded and the user performing an occasional rebuild).
That's a good idea to have Workspace synced on a local drive, you can feel better performance even when working on local network (especially while using SSD drives). Workspace contains a lot of small files and it's a bottleneck even in a good LANs.
I do the same for Microstation's workspace: I use Synology Drive service at server side + client app . Only you have to be careful which folders should be synced r/o and which r/w for users. Syncyng project files (DGNs) is not a good idea: you don't have control over it which file is actually open (although in promis.e is database-controlled). Most files you should sync r/o, retaining r/w only for user-specific files like user preferences.
How is your experience with database access through VPN? Is the service fast enough or do you experience serious performance loss?
Our initial setup was SQL installed on a local active directory server, with files (catalogs, reports, templates etc) stored locally.
Now we are all working from home, we've installed SQL Express on local machines and everyone is working locally, but we are still sharing the same files through Sync. Accessing a previously designed project stored on our server, we only backup and restore locally. We have created a script to point our installation at either the server SQL or localhost SQL database - i'm happy to share this script if its something you may be interested in.
I take your point about not synchronising every, perhaps key folders (Catalogs, Templates, Reports etc) would be better.
