If a DEVICE_ID is suppressed in promis.e CAD program will the DEVICE_ID show up when performing a burst command in AutoCAD?
Hi Ericka,Since Device Id is a smart feature of Promis.e and when a Devive Id is suppressed the physical text is removed from the drawing. Hence due to this reason when the DWG file will not be able to show the Device Id text . Regards,Satish Saptasagar
Ok, Thanks for the response. I was just curious because I am working with a vendor that uses Promis.e connect to create their drawings. (If I am thinking of this correctly.) Then, they convert them to AutoCAD and send the DWG AutoCAD files to us and then we either have to burst and explode these files and mount them on our borders or we convert them to microstation connect and change all the layers to microstation's default layer. upon changing the layer little arrows pop up all over the schematics as if they are revision arrows. (which is not a good thing by the way.) We are basically loosing all the smart info such as the actual DEVICE_ID naming convention and the words DEVICE_ID" is appearing all over the drawing if we do a burst and explode or we get items such as AutoCAD text size and question marks appearing. Any suggestion on how I can resolve this issue?
Ericka,Since you mentioned that the user converts the Promis.e drawing to DWG and then shares the DWG file, if you are using MicroStation CONNECT you should be able to use the Promis.e CE drawing in Microstation as both the software use DGN file as the file type for drawing. The little Arrows that Pop Up are actually Insertion Points symbols that are associated with Smart Promis.e Symbols which are used to denote the point that was used to insert the symbol. The Visibility for the same can be turned On Off in Promis.e using the toggle button but they are usually located on the level "ECT_INSERT_POINT". Maybe you can turn off the visibility of that level so that they dont appear on the drawing. HTHRegards,Satish Saptasagar
That's odd the Visibility for this layer (ECT_DGRM_RFPT_MARK & ECT_DGRM_CNPT_MARK) are already set as invisible. At least in AutoCAD that is. I'm not sure about Promis.e Connect as I don't have the program on my end to check this rather it is the Vendor that has Promis.e Connect. I will have to talk with our vendor on this one. Thanks again for your response.
Hi Ericka,There was a BUG in the earlier version of Promis.e that some of the Insertion Points were not on the correct level due to which this issue might be faced by the user. Hence can you ask your vendor to follow the below steps in Promis.e CONNECT and then export that drawing to share with so that you can confirm if it fixes the issue or not ?
