ELEC_ACTIVEPARTSDATABASE

After removing microstation, I went on with Substation. The program did not reply anymore.
I removed Substation and installed it again. I then get the message  : "Invalid value for Active Parts database name setting (ELEC_ACTIVEPARTSDATABASE). Please check in Workspace/Workset cfg. make sure all values are correct, then restart software"
How can I solve this ? The reference to the activerpartsdatabase is set correctly (as far as I can see)

  • Hi Gret,

Can you check in your Substation.cfg file located inside your WorkSpace & WorkSet folders if they are having the correct Parts Database Name that you are using ? You can find the details of the Parts Database you are using in from the PartsDBMappings.xml present in the below locations for Substation.cfg.

For the OOTB ANSI WorkSpace & WorkSet the files can be found in the below Location, try searching accordingly in your environment depending on the location of your WorkSpace.

    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenUtilities Substation CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\Substation ANSI-IEEE Example\Standards\Substation

    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenUtilities Substation CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\Substation ANSI-IEEE Example\Worksets\Substation_Sample_ANSI-IEEE\Standards\Substation

Also wanted to know if the issue you are facing was after you made any changes to WorkSpace / Configuration Variables? or if it was working fine and you suddenly started facing this issue?

    Thanks & Regards

  • Hello Satish,

The strange thing was that the location of the database was given in the file.

The problem came up when I deleted other programs. I have been using Microstation and Promis.e before, separately. This month I started to use Substation. I thus thought that I could delete the other programs from the computer, thus saving some space and avoiding unwanted opening (and thus payment).

Perhaps there was a link with the database made in Promis.e that was interrupted ... I did not make any changes in WorkSpace / Configuration variables.

I removed all Bentley programs, and also deleted every trace I could find on the hard disk. I then installed the program again and now it is working.

    Kind regards,
    Gert Rubbrecht

  • Hello Gert,

Glad to know that clean installation helped with the issue you are facing!

Since Promis.e & Substation are separate installations applications and the Database / Parts Database are separate for Promis.e & Substation. I think there might have been some issue while installation of Substation that might have got resolved by reinstallation of Substation.

    Thanks & Regards,
