Wire number table

I might be in over my head here, but I want to make an overview/summary-view drawing with a table of wire numbers that automatically updates.  The wire numbers I want in the table are those wired to a child connector symbol (part of a family) I created and these connector symbols are scattered across dozens of pages of our schematics.  The overview diagram will be a quick reference to help the electrician wire the connector with the correct wire numbers on each pin/socket of the connectors rather than having them try to hunt through way too many pages to find the pin/wire number combinations (or for me or my colleagues to do this manually).  What I don't know is how to link to the wire number connected to each child connector symbol to make this table?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

  • I haven't played with Reports much.  I don't see the wire number field/column in this report though, can that be added?

It appears this would be a static table (built automatically by the report).  So it would not dynamically update if the schematics change, but it would be better than hunting the plug connections down manually and hand-typing wire numbers, so I think it's a reasonable compromise if it can report plug terminal numbers + wire numbers some how.

  • Hello Brad,

There is another options that I think that will help you is using the Graphical Plan for Terminal / Plugs. You can Add Wire Number Field to the Report by using Report Customization.

You can generate the Graphical Plan which is generated for an Entire Terminal Strip / Ping Plug. You can use any of the Default Templates but the OOTB Graphical Plan "ANSI IEEE STANDARD GRAPHICAL PLAN 2(v)"  Has the Wire Details along with the other require details. Refer to the below Screen Shot for more details.

    Hope this answers your question.
