Hi Promis-e users,
Can someone clear up an uncertainty for me? I don't know if it is good practice to multi-select symbols, wires and fields so that I can move them using the acad, Ctrl+M command.
It is very tedious to select the part of the circuit you want to move and then separately move the symbols then the wires then the fields, but thats what the right click-popup box seems to suggest I must do as it asks you to select either wires, symbols or fields before going to the desired option.
This is what the help says:
To move an item or items in a drawing:
Select the object(s) you wish to move, then right click on the objects and select Move from the popup menu. You will be prompted to "Specify base point" (AutoCAD version) or "Enter first point" (MicroStation version). Select a point on the drawing that will be the reference point of the selected objects. You will be prompted to "Specify second point of displacement" (AutoCAD version) or "Enter point to define distance and direction" (MicroStation version). Select the destination reference point for the selected objects. The objects will then be moved to the new location. In the AutoCAD version of the software you can also use the Modify > Move function.
I'd also like to know if I can cut a circuit or part of a circuit (symbols, wires & fields) then paste them on another page.
My Software Install:
Promis-e V8i running on Autocad 2009 mechanical 8.11.05.92 Release (2008.1209.15.20) Upgraded through SP1 to promis.e V8i version 08.11.07.82
Thanks in advance.
Luke
In the AutoCAD version, you can use the regular AutoCAD move command to move whole sections of circuits. I typically draw a selection set and then use the move button from the ACAD modify toolbar, but you could also use the command MOVE, or the shortcut M, or Ctrl+M.
You can also use the cut and paste commands to move objects from page to page, and project to project. YOu shoudl get promted with choices to maintain device ID's, wire numbers, etc when you paste.
Thanks Tani,
How about moving BOMs and Terminal layouts in graphical plan mode?
Is it safe to do?
I have a corrupt memory issue at the moment and I'm trying to find out what I've done wrong.
PS
Perhaps this has nothing to do with my memory problem but...
I notice if you move a terminal bar layout, its seems to leave an imprint of some of the text.
This imprint disappears when you zoom, it does not print to paper. But if one of my terminal bar placements overshoots the drawing frame, these marks will stay in the model space (outside of the drawing frame) after I move the terminals.
The blank revision fields in my title block have similar marks but I can see they are just where my variable references have been placed.
Hi Luke,
You can move anything you like using the standard comands just like Tani said.
if you get those little marks left, thats because they are unpopulated variables. I know exactly what you are talking about, I have seen it before. I cannot replicate it personally, and I believe it is a font issue. so you could try modifying the template and changing the fonts.
If that fails, the best work around for this, is that if it is a variable you are not using (eg, if you are not assigning a colour to a wire), either select a different plan that does not have that variable, or make your own (easier to base it off an existing one) that has exactly what you need.
I know sometimes you will have variables that are only sometimes populated, if you continue to be stuck with this, raise a service ticket and we can take it further.
