I am trying to display the cable marker and cable device ID on both ends of the cable (two different drawings). To do this I am using the Sub ID tool.
I have done this for a number of cables and am noticing differences of how some cables are represented on reports and within the cable manager.
For some cables with 2 Sub ID's, the cable manager shows the information twice but for others, only once. What would you expect?
For those showing twice, the conductor cores are represented on a report twice too. We do not want this duplication. Do you know how we can avoid this?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Jessica, If you are assigning Sub Id to a symbol it means that you are adding a Duplicate Symbol for the Cable. Since your are adding the SubId in the Device Usage chart you will be able to see they have different SubId. But since you have now duplicated the symbol in reports it will show as two separate cable.
Is there any specific reason why you are placing the Cable Symbol on both the section of Wires? Ideally it needs to be placed only once, even if the wire continues to another page the connectivity can be maintained using the Wire Links. Looking forward to your update. Ok thanks Satish.
We were hoping to show the cable ID at both ends simply for clarity purposes for field staff using hard copies.
Perhaps we can edit the report SQL to remove duplicates...
Or we could change our naming convention for wirelinks to be our cable ID's....
Do you have any other suggestions?
Hi Jessica, You can create Wiring Diagrams for the cables. In below screen shot you can find an example of the same. Can you please log a Service Case so that we can discuss the issue further? Please use the below link to log a service case.
