Promis-e Communication Network Diagram

I use Promis-e with Autocad.

I need to do a network communication architecture drawing.

What drawing mode should I use in Prmois-e.

I don't know really how to draw it as such in promis-e.  I was planning on just drawing it with normal autocad blocks, as it doesn't connect to anything else in the drawings and the items shown here should be located somewhere else in the drawings.

Does this sound right to anyone? OR how have you guys done it?

  • You could certainly create the drawing using only non-intelligent elements.

Benefits of setting the devices up in promis•e include being able to insert symbols by name or part number and being able to link symbols for a device in one mode to symbols for the same device in another mode by inserting symbols by device ID.  You can easily navigate from symbol to symbol for a given device by right clicking a symbol and selecting Navigate.

So if a symbol for a device exists in Single Line Mode on the network architecture and is linked to a symbol in Schematic Mode for the power supply of the device, changes to the device can affect both symbols.  Changing the device ID on the schematic would automatically change it to match on the single line.  Similarly, attributes such as function text can be shared and displayed at both symbols and be updated accordingly.
