Error - This command registers your session at a higher license level

      Product(s): promis.e
      Version(s): 08.11.12.88 - 08.11.12.137
      Environment: N/A
      Area: Licensing
      Subarea: N/A

    Error or Warning Message

Instead of "From Standard to Professional", the message may include "From Standard to Enterprise" or "From Professional to Enterprise".

    Explanation

When the promis.e software is opened it uses a Standard license, regardless of the license level intended to be used.  When a Professional or Enterprise level tool is selected, promis.e requires the corresponding license.  Historically, if the required license was Activated on the workstation, a usage of that license would simply be recorded.  If the license was not activated, a message would appear indicating the tool could not be used.

With the advent of SELECT Open Access, subscribers have unrestricted portfolio-wide access to Bentley applications, including all editions of promis.e.  To prevent unexpected usages of Professional or Enterprise licenses and associated invoices, the "This command registers your session at a higher license level" message opens to warn the user.

Select OK to begin a usage of the higher license level and use the the tool that prompted the license check.  The usage of the higher license level will continue for the duration of the promis.e session.

Select Cancel to continue using the software at the current license level.  The tool that prompted the license check will not be opened and the higher license level usage will not begin.

Note: Beginning with Promis.e V8i SELECTseries 8, there is only one edition of Promis.e, no Standard, Professional, or Enterprise editions, so this article would not apply.

    How to Avoid

There is no option to disable the License Check prompts.  After a user elects to use a higher level license, the License Check prompt for that license will not appear for the remainder of the promis.e session.
