    ProjectWise permissions for Promis.e and Bentley Substation integration

    Background

    When a user has insufficient ProjectWise permissions, error messages can occur when attempting certain operations in Promis.e and Bentley Substation.

    Error or Warning Messages

    When trying to use Project Manager to create a project in a ProjectWise datasource, the following tooltip appears near the Save in field on the New Project dialog.

    You do not have permission to create a project in this folder in ProjectWise

    Causes include missing Folder permissions (Create) or Project permissions (Allow user to create projects and to upgrade folders to projects).


    When using Project Manager to create a project in a ProjectWise datasource, the following message is displayed.  The message is also displayed when trying to create project pages or delete or rename the project:

    Information
    The project is read-only, you cannot proceed.

    Causes include missing Document permissions (Modify).


    When trying to delete a project the following message is displayed:

    You do not have permission to do this on some subfolders or files of the project.

    Causes include missing Document permissions (Delete), Folder permissions (Delete), or Project permissions (Allow user to delete projects).


    When using Project Manager to create a project in a ProjectWise datasource, the following message is displayed.

    Alert
    You do not have permission to create the project document from ProjectWise.

    Causes include missing Document permissions (Create).


    How to Avoid

    1. Open the ProjectWise Administrator application

    2. Expand the datasource in the tree pane and select Users

    3. Right-click the user in the right-hand pane and select Properties > Settings

    4. Double-click Project Permissions to expand it.

    5. Set the check boxes to enable all of the following permissions:

      Allow user to change project permissions
      Allow user to create projects and to upgrade folders to projects
      Allow user to change project types and project properties
      Allow user to delete projects

        

    6. Double-click Document to expand it.
    7. Set the check boxes to enable all of the following permissions:

      Create
      Modify
      Delete

    8. Double-click Folder to expand it.
    9. Set the check boxes to enable all of the following permissions:

      Create
      Modify
      Delete

    Note: It may be necessary to restart Promis.e or Bentley Substation for the changes to be recognized by the software.
