When Test Connection is clicked on the Project Database Utility, the following error message is displayed on the dialog:
Invalid database name. The charactors of the database name should be letters, numbers or '_' and the first character should not be a number, besides, the length should be less than 30.
The database name that is specified does not conform to the rules for regular identifiers.
The "Project database strategy" setting was added to the Setup dialog in version 08.11.12.137. When this setting is set to "Separate Database Per Project", the Project Database Utility will open automatically during project creation, and the name of the project supplied on the New Project dialog will be transferred to the Database name field on the Create Project Database tab of the utility. Common practices for naming projects result in violations for naming databases, including starting with a number character and having a space in the name.
Make sure the value specified for Database Name on the Create Project Database tab of the Project Database Utility conforms to the Rules for Regular Identifiers. This is a requirement for database names, it is not a unique requirement of Promis.e or Bentley Substation.
To avoid the message when the database name begins with a number, add an underscore character ( _ ) or other acceptable character as the first character of the database name.
Similarly, use underscores in place of spaces in the database name.
