This message can occur when using SQL Server Authentication and the password on the Setup dialog is incorrect. Normally a "login failed" message is returned when leaving Setup if the password is incorrect. However, leading or trailing spaces added to the Password field, often inadvertently, are trimmed and ignored by the software, which then functions normally except for when attempting to create a project backup. In this situation project backups can be restored, but backups cannot be created.
The message may indicate a problem outside of the software with the Windows ODBC connection to SQL Server.The ODBC connection can be tested with the following process:
