Terminals, plugs missing from Insert Symbol By Device ID

    Product(s): Promis.e, Bentley Substation
    Version(s): through 10.00.00.232
    Environment: N\A
    Area: Component Features
    Subarea: Insert Symbol By ID

    Problem Description

When I try to insert a symbol for a terminal block or plug that exists in the project using Insert Symbol By Device ID with the Terminal/Plug filter enabled, the device IDs I'm looking for are not listed.

    Explanation

The software may be considering the terminal blocks or plugs to be standard devices, in which case they will appear when the Device filter is applied.

Historically, the type of schematic symbol placed for a device determined if the device appeared under the Terminal/Plug or Device filter, and if the schematic symbol was not placed first, then a terminal could become stuck as a Device.

    Steps to Resolve

Option 1 - Refresh the schematic symbols using Replace Symbol

    1. Select Terminal/Pin-Plug Manager.
    2. Set the Search field to "Entire Project".
    3. Enter the schematic symbol name of the terminal or plug in question for both the Enter Symbol Name and Replace with fields.
    4. Leave all the check boxes in the Maintain on New Symbol area checked.
    5. Click the OK button.

Option 2 - Set the Part_Type to TER for terminal part numbers

This option applies only to version 08.11.11.85 and version 08.11.12.120 or higher

    1. Select Parts Database Manager.
    2. Filter for a terminal part number.
    3. Enter TER as the value for the Part_Type field.
    4. Click the Apply button.
    5. Repeat this process for remaining terminal part numbers.

It may be necessary to use Show Differences to update the project with the new information.
