Error - page is not writable

      Product(s): Promis.e, Bentley Substation
      Version(s): through 08.11.13.140
      Environment: N\A
      Area: Project Management
      Subarea: Project Manager

    Error or Warning Message

When trying to open a project page in Project Manager the following message is displayed:

    Alert
This page is not writable. Do you want to open it as read-only?

    Explanation

This indicates the DGN file or DWG file that corresponds to the page is read-only or locked by another process.

    How to Avoid

Use Windows Explorer to find the file that corresponds to the problem page. Right-click the file and select Properties. Clear the Read-only check box if set. Check the Security tab to make sure read/write/modify permissions are enabled. Similarly, if the project is in ProjectWise, use ProjectWise Explorer to change the permissions the user(s) or user group(s) has for the file.

If the file is not set to be read-only nor has restricted permissions, close any application that has or recently had the file open. It may be necessary to end processes that remain open by using Task Manager or by shutting down the computer if the locking process is not known. When the project folder is shared, the offending application/process may be on a different machine than the one receiving the error message.
