Background

The 3D Layout Settings tool is used to set project and user specific settings beyond settings found in Options. The settings include what parts should be used by default, what Part_Type values the software will filter for on certain dialogs, etc.

To open the 3D Substation Layout dialog

CONNECT Edition

• From the ribbon tabs along the top of the application, select File to open the Backpage menu then select 3D Layout Settings
  

V8i

• From the Tasks area, select Manage > Admin Management > 3D Layout Settings
  

Settings storage

The settings on the Project Settings tab of the 3D Substation Layout dialog are stored in the TDSProjectSettings.xml file.

• For CONNECT Edition, this file is found in the \Standards\Substation\ subfolder of the project's workset folder.
• For V8i, this file is found in the project's folder.

The settings on the User Settings tab of the 3D Substation Layout dialog are stored in the TDSUserSettings.xml file found in the user application data folder for Bentley Substation.
