Background

The Draw Ladder tool is used to quickly draw ladders of wire, where multiple "rungs" are attached to common "rails" on each end of the rungs. The user specifies rung spacing then clicks on the page to specify opposite ends of the bounding box that will be filled by the ladder.

Orientation

The Electrical Standard determines the orientation of the ladder. The Electrical Standard is specified for the project in [[Options]] > Project Options > Standards.

ANSI-IEEE: rungs are horizontal, rails are vertical
IEC: rungs are vertical, rails are horizontal

Spacing

When the Draw Ladder tool is selected, a prompt will appear for entering the spacing between rungs.

To start the Draw Ladder tool

Bentley Substation CONNECT Edition

Select 2D Design ribbon tab > Wiring group > Draw Ladder
Function key shortcut: F2 > D > WS
- If the 2D Design ribbon tab is already the active tab: F3 > WS
Space bar shortcut: SPACE > 7 (Wiring group) > S (Draw Ladder)
