    Import Drawings

      Product(s): Bentley Substation, Promis.e
      Version(s): 08.11.10.25 - 08.11.13.140
      Environment: N\A
      Area: Project Management
      Subarea: Project Manager

    Background

The Import Drawings tool is used to import drawing files into the project that is selected in Project Manager. The drawings will be imported as individual pages.

Beginning with V8i SELECTseries 8, the Import Drawings tool can import orphaned project DGN files and rebuild their intelligence upon import. Importing DWG files is now supported.

    See Help for details.

To open the Import Drawings tool

On the Project Manager dialog, select File > Import Drawings.

Files that already belong to a project will not be listed

If, after browsing for a folder containing the DGN files to be imported, no files are listed and "Files that already belong to a project will not be listed" appears on the Import Drawings dialog, this indicates the selected folder is or was a project folder for Promis.e or Bentley Substation.

    • If the selected folder belongs to a project that is still accessible in Project Manager, Copy Page(s) is preferred over Import Drawings.
    • If the source project is not accessible to you but is to someone else, restoring a backup made by the other user and then using Copy Page(s) is preferred.
    • If the source project is not accessible by any user, perhaps due to loss of project database data, renaming the ect.fid file in the folder being imported will allow Import Drawings to list the DGN files in the folder.
