User column populated for closed pages on Project Manager

    Product(s): Promis.e, Bentley Substation
    Version(s): through 08.11.13.140
    Environment: N\A
    Area: Project Management
    Subarea: Project Manager

    Problem Description

A user name is listed in the User column on the Details area of Project Manager even though the page is closed.

    Explanation

The username field in the Page table of the project database did not get cleared as it normally does when the page was closed. This can happen if the software's process was ended unexpectedly before it could make the change to the database.

    Steps to Resolve

The user names can typically be cleared by opening and closing the affected page(s).

    Option 1

Open and close the affected page. This can usually be done by any user, not only the user listed as having the page open. This may reveal that the page is truly open, in which case the user with the page open can be requested to close the page.

Open a page by double-clicking it in Project Manager or by right-clicking it and selecting Open. Close a page by right-clicking it in Project Manager and selecting Close.

    Option 2

If many pages of a project are closed yet have a value in the User column on Project Manager, follow these steps.

    1. [Optional] Click the User column header in Project Manager to sort by user name. This will group the affected pages together for easy selection.
    2. Select all the affected pages using the mouse and SHIFT or CTRL keys, like selecting multiple files in Windows Explorer.
    3. Right- click the selection and choose Refresh Page. This will open and close each selected page.
