How to rename a Project/Workset in Substation CONNECT

 Product(s):Bentley Substation CONNECT
 Version(s):10.02.00.31
 Environment:N/A
 Area:Project Management

Background:

With Substation CONNECT the ability to rename the Projects has been removed from the Project Manager. This is because Project/WorkSet can now be shared with other Bentley Products and it may not be safe to simply rename a WorkSet without having adverse effect on other products that could be sharing the same WorkSet.

The Project renaming can be done by following the below steps. In the below steps we will be renaming an out of the box project from the Substation Example WorkSpace named Substation_Sample_ANSI_IEEE to simply Substation_ANSI-IEEE

Steps to Accomplish:

Rename WorkSet Folder and corresponding .cfg and .dgnws files

To Rename a WorkSet folder browse to the WorkSet folder contained the WorkSpace that you wish to rename in the Windows Explorer. In this case the path being as below:

C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Bentley Substation CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\Substation Example \Worksets

Then rename the WorkSet Substation_Sample_ANSI_IEEE to Substation_ANSI_IEEE.

Also rename the .cfg and .dgnws files corresponding to Substation_Sample_ANSI_IEEE-IEEE as:

Substation_Sample_ANSI_IEEE.cfg  >  Substation_ANSI_IEEE.cfg

Substation_Sample_ANSI_IEEE.dgnws  >  Substation_ANSI_IEEE.dgnws

Answer the Prompt - Move

Once the above-mentioned renaming is complete, launch Bentley Substation CONNECT. It can be seen that in the Project Manager the name of the WorkSet has been changed.

Now, click on the changed Workset/Project name. A prompt stating that the project location is changed comes up.

In this prompt click on Move.

Note: Renaming the project is very similar to moving a project hence we will select Move option in the above prompt.

After we click on Move all the pages in the project will be visible again and we would have successfully renamed a Project/WorkSet
