Error - Invalid Terminal Connection - Promise CONNECT

      Product(s):  Promise CONNECT Edition
      Version(s):  10.00.XX.XX to 10.06.XX.XX
      Environment: NA
Area: Terminal / Pin Plug Manager
      Subarea:  Component Managment

    Error Message:

When users select a Terminal Strip in Terminal / Pin-Plug Manager they get below Error Message.

    Reason for Error Message

There is a problem related to connections to jumper connection points on terminals in the project. Jumper connection points on terminal symbols should only connect to other jumper connection points on terminals in the same terminal strip.  Such connections represent "clip" jumpers as opposed to wires.

On the Modify Connection Point Text dialog, jumper connection points have a "Jumper" value for Configuration and typically have "J" connection point text.  Non-jumper connections have a "Left" or "Right" value for Configuration and typically have "I" or "E" connection point text.

    Steps to Resolve

    1. Select Engineering Design Consideration to check for similar issues by selecting it from Electrical >>  Manage >> Engineering Design Consideration under Validation.

    2. Now select the options Invalid Terminal Connection under connections and select if the checking needs to be done on a page or entire Projects by selecting Range and then select Check.

    3. Double Click on EDC check results to correct the desired Terminal Group’s terminal issue where the software will navigate automatically.

The Corrections that can be done are as below
A jumper connection point on a terminal symbol wired to a connection point on a non-terminal device.

A jumper connection point on a terminal symbol connected to a non-jumper connection point of another terminal

A jumper0 connection point on a terminal symbol connected to a jumper connection point of a terminal that has a different device ID (the terminal is in a different terminal strip)

In some cases, maybe necessary to rearrange the connection points on the terminal symbol or change the Configuration of a connection point from "Jumper" to "Left" or "Right".  Unwanted jumper connection points can be changed to non-jumper connection points. The below steps can be used as a reference for doing the same.

    1. Right-click the terminal symbol and select "Connection Point"

    2. Change the Visible Text column, for example, change “J” to “E”.
