Make wire number appear on other segments

      Product(s): Promis.e, Bentley Substation
      Version(s): through 08.11.13.140
      Environment: N/A
      Area: Wire Numbering
      Subarea: Add Wire Label

After assigning a wire number to a potential, how do I make it appear on another segment of the same potential?

    Background

The wire number or other properties can be made to display at other branches of a given potential.

    Steps to Accomplish

    V8i SELECTseries 7 and 8

    Option 1

    1. On the schematic page, right-click the wire segment where the wire number or property is to be displayed.
    2. Select Add Label from the resulting context menu.

It is also possible to select multiple branches of the same wire, right-click a branch in the selection, and select Add Label to display the wire number or property on all the selected wire segments at once.

To change the position of the wire number, right-click the wire number text, select Text Position, and move the text to the desired position. Alternatively, you can use the Align Wire Numbers tool to align multiple wire numbers to the same point.

To hide a wire number, right-click the wire number or wire and select Delete This Label.

    Option 2

    1. Open Wiring Manager.
    2. Set the check box in the Display Label column in the right hand pane for each branch that should display the wire number / property. The format specified for Wire label display format in the Label Options tab in the left hand pane will be applied.

The Wiring Manager will display all the branches of the selected potential. Clear the Show all connections on potential check box to show only the branch(es) represented by the logical line segment that was right-clicked.  Logical lines can be ambiguous and represent more than one branch, therefore more than one branch may remain displayed even when Show all connections on potential is not set. In that case, use the target information to further identify the branches.

To hide a wire number, clear the Display Label check box for the desired segment on Wiring Manager.

    Versions through V8i SELECTseries 6

    1. On the schematic page, right-click the wire segment where the wire number is to be displayed.
    2. Select Duplicate from the resulting pop up. The wire number will then appear at the wire segment.

It is also possible to select multiple segments of the same wire, right-click a segment, and duplicate the wire number on all the selected wire segments at once.

To change the position of the wire number, right-click the wire number text, select Text Position, and move the text to the desired position. Alternatively, you can use the Align Wire Numbers tool to align multiple wire numbers to the same point.

To hide a wire number, right-click the wire number or wire and de-select Show Wire Number in the resulting dialog. Do not select Delete. Deleting a wire number will delete the wire number from the project; it will not merely hide it.
