Why are the changes I made to the parts database not appearing in my project? Old part number related information still appears in reports and elsewhere in the project.
When a part number is assigned to a device in a project, the record for that part number is copied from the parts database to the project database and linked to that project. The same part number will have a unique record in the project database for each project in which it is used.
When a part number record is modified in the parts database, the part number information is not automatically updated in the project database by default. This is intentional behavior - it preserves the part number information in a project so the information in completed projects appears as designed.
To update a project with changes made to the parts database:
Items that are not dynamically updated by the software, such as reports (including Text On Drawing) and graphical plans, will need to be deleted and generated again.
Starting in promis•e V8i SELECTseries 5 (08.11.10.xx), there is a system option for setting the software to update only the parts database, the parts database and the active project, or the parts database and all projects when a part number record is modified. Select Options > System Options > Update Part Number to configure this setting.
