How to navigate to part database in Bentley Substation

      Product(s): Bentley Substation
      Version(s): CONNECT
      Environment: N/A
      Area: Component Management
      Subarea: Parts Database

    Background

Quickly bring up the record for a part number in Parts Database Manager while viewing a device that uses the part number on a project page with the following process.

    Steps to Accomplish

    1. Open a page containing symbols for a device that has at least one part number assigned to it.

    2. Turn on the display of part numbers at symbols by selecting Display Part Numbers.

    3. Right click a part number on the page and select Edit Part Number.

This will open the Parts Database Manager dialog and display the record for that part number.

Remember, if any changes are made to the part number record, use the Show Differences button on the upper right of the Parts Database Manager dialog to update the project with the new data.

Note: Part numbers are suppressed at child symbols by default.  To change this, select Options > Project Options > Part Number Settings and clear the check box for the "Suppress Part Numbers On Child Symbol" option on the Display tab.  In V8i SELECTseries 6 and earlier, select Options > Project Options > Display Formats and clear the check box for the "Suppress Part Numbers On Child Symbol" option on the Part Number tab.
