Oracle Requirements sisNET CE Updates 5, 6, 7 and 2023

The Oracle requirements of sisNET CE Update 5, 6, 7, 2023.0 and 2023.1 are identical. Since the release of the Bentley Power Platform 10.16.02, used in sisNET CE Update 5, Bentley offers native support for Oracle 19c. More information about the databases supported by the Power Platform is available on the following website:

    https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/w/microstation__wiki/25156/microstation-connect-supported-databases

sisNET CONNECT Edition can be used with Oracle Server 12.2, 18c or 19c. The Oracle Client must always be 64 bit and can be of version 12.2 or 19c. These combinations are indicated in the purple rectangles in the matrix below. Combinations outside the purple cells are not supported by Bentley.

If you must use an Oracle 18c client, you need to copy and rename the Oracle 18 client DLLs to Oracle 12 client DLLs, see the note below. Keep in mind that the Oracle 18 client does not have formal Bentley support. Unsupported combinations may seem to work but can run into errors for some operations. The fact that they seem to work should not be relied upon. Bentley will not investigate issues on unsupported combinations.

Note that regular support from Oracle itself is only available for the server/client combinations indicated by the green cells in the overview. For yellow or orange cells in the overview, you need  additional support contracts with Oracle.

Note: In case you must use an Oracle 18c client:

    • copy Oraclient18.dll to Oraclient12.dll and
    • copy Orasql18.dll to Orasql12.dll
    • in the c:\Ora18c\bin map.

sisVIEW CE Update 5, 6 and 7 installations with Oracle 18XE are to be supplemented with an Oracle 19c client - this eliminates the above workaround of duplicating two DLLs. The sisNET > sisVIEW data exchange is done via the Projektverwaltung using EXP/IMP. A datapump data transfer from Oracle 19 to a lower Oracle version is currently not supported.

All Oracle clients must be 64 bits.

Regarding the Oracle 12.2 versions there is an addition for all Windows operating system users: Oracle version 12.2.0.1 should not be used if the functionality of the Materialized Views (different adjustment of the mobile workstations) is used, because there are problems with the refresh via the database link. Details can be found on the website: http://www.programmersought.com/article/348413861/;jsessionid=339882DAEF27754372B3CF2B900E5F2C

The mentioned patch 25199585 is unfortunately only available for LINUX, not for Windows. All that remains is an upgrade to version 12.2.0.2 (now called 18c) or to 19c.
