V8i Licensing - Licensing Requirements after end of SELECTserver

Bentley V8i SS1 and SS4 products are not enabled with CONNECT licensing, also known as Subscription Entitlement Services (SES). This means that they will not have a license provided anymore after the discontinuation of the Bentley SELECTserver. If you still want to run V8i SS1 or SS4 products after that date, you will need to switch from concurrent licensing to node-locked licensing as soon as possible and before the end of the SELECTserver.

Check out licenses (reserved licenses) are licenses that a user themselves will check out in order to use a product.  As with SELECTserver, SES considers a license in use 100% of the time when it is checked out. Users will not be restricted from checking in and again checking these out to other machines.

Node-locked licenses are not exactly the same as checked out licenses. They are licenses provided by Bentley to ensure that the licensed product may work on exactly that machine for which the license has been provided for. After the discontinuation of the Bentley SELECTserver, V8i SS1 and SS4 versions of Bentley products will need a node-locked (machine-based) license that ensures that the license can only be used on the machine for which the license has been provided for. Users will not be given the option to change these on a regular basis.
