    How to Resolve the Orphan Balloons in OpenUtilities Substation

    Background:

    When a user copies a Project Page to another Project and selects to maintain  the Device Id and include the Balloon Callouts. The balloon callouts have direct association with the Symbols placed in the models. Hence after copying the Page the destination project does not contain the proper references and substation symbols Project then the Balloon Callouts the resulting Balloons are then called as Orphan Balloons. In this Wiki Article we will discuss how to resolve the Orphan Balloon Issue.  

    There are two scenarios to resolve this issue. 
    1. Normal Projects outside of ProjectWise Enviorment. 
    2. For Projects Pages stored in ProjectWise Enviorment.

    How to Identify if there are Orphaned Balloons  

    1. On the construction drawing page click on command "Find Orphaned Balloons".




    2. In the Orphaned Balloon Dialog the Balloons with no references are displayed. The user can then Right Click on the Balloon Instances and Zoom into to highlight the Balloon. 



    Steps to Accomplish

    1. Normal Projects outside of ProjectWise Enviorment. 

    a. On the Construction Drawing Page Identify the missing Reference by click on Reference (Under Primary) >> In Reference dialog identify the Reference are the Highlighted in Red. 

    b.  Copy all the pages (2D / 3D which contain the Symbol) that are in Red to the Current Project and it will resolve the issue.  





    2. For Project Pages stored in ProjectWise Enviorment. 

    For Projects stored in ProjectWise Enviorment the user can use "Scan References and Link Sets" in ProjectWise Explorer on the Project Folder. As a Best Practice the user needs to run this command after every copy page command.

    a. Open ProjectWise Explorer and navigate the Data Source for the location of the Project. 

    b. Select the Project >> Tools >> Scan References and Link Sets.
