    Open Run Reports Faster

      Product(s): Promis.e, Bentley Substation
      Version(s): 08.11.07.xx - 08.11.13.140
      Environment: N/A
      Area: Reports_Output Features
      Subarea: Reporting

    Background

Unused report templates can be removed from the list on Run Reports. Doing so will also reduce the amount of time it takes for the Run Reports dialog to appear as the software will have to scan through fewer report template files in order to categorize them.

    Steps to Accomplish

    1. Open the Setup dialog and find the System Paths tab or area.
    2. If the "system path management method" is set to "Manage Data Folder Path", note the folder specified for the Data folder path.  The report template folder will be the "\Templates\Reports" subfolder of this folder.

If the "system path management method" is set to "Manage Individual Paths", note the folder specified for the Templates path.  The report template folder will be the "\Reports" subfolder of this folder.
    3. Use Windows Explorer to copy the report template folder determined in step 1.  Rename the copy of the folder to "Reports Backup"

    4. Use Windows Explorer to open the report template folder determined in step 1.

    5. Delete any report template that is never used.  Report template files will have a .rpt extension.  For example, users that only use the ANSI-IEEE standard could delete all the "- Drawing (metric).rpt" files.  Similarly, IEC-only users could delete all the "- Drawing (inch).rpt" files.  If reports are only printed to Letter size sheets, delete the "- A4.rpt" templates.

If a deleted report template is later found to be needed, simply copy the corresponding .rpt file from the "Reports Backup" folder to the report template path.
