The software could not find a SQL Server instance named "BENTLEYECAD" and will not automatically create the project database. You must create a project database and configure the database connection manually.
At first startup after installation, and continuing at each startup until an attempt at configuration is made, the software checks for a local instance of SQL Server named BENTLEYECAD. If it is found, the software attempts to create a local project database automatically. If it is not found, this message appears.
If the database already exists, configure the Project Database tab of Setup to connect to the desired database.
If the database exists but the software cannot connect to it, see Troubleshooting Project Database Connection Problems.
If SQL Server has not been installed on the network machine, see Installing SQL Server.
If SQL Server is installed on the network machine but the database has not been created, see the "Create the Database Method 2: Executing a Script" section of the Creating and Updating the Project Database article.
If SQL Server has not been installed, see Installing SQL Server.
If SQL Server is already installed for use with other software, see Installing SQL Server and install a BENTLEYECAD instance.
If SQL Server has been installed with a different instance name such as the default SQLEXPRESS but intended for use with the Bentley software, see "Create the Database Method 1: Project Database Utility" section of Creating and Updating the Project Database. Be sure to specify the correct instance name in the Utility.
If SQL Server was installed via the Bentley software's main installation screen or otherwise has an instance name of BENTLEYECAD, see Troubleshooting Project Database Connection Problems.
