One of my users ask me if there is a way to copy part of a raster image from one raster file, into another raster file using copy/paste.

You can use Descartes "Smart Snap" to select the highest point along the top of rail to trace the rails or the 3D line follow tool if you have intensities to your point cloud. This will give you a rough horizontal alignment.
