We got some confirmation from AISC that the initial 3" minimums refer to concrete cover and don't need to be enforced in the final checks since we are already checking that in the anchors section. We will revise the report in the next version.

I see now, I missed that these were the lateral beams in your first post. This is the intended behavior. We allow you to drill in and check the lateral beams with the Ram Steel Beam design process, but since this does not account for end fixity, the presence…

Thanks for the clarification. I like to model the "physical" members instead of splitting the members at each node. So, defining the lateral brace points and unbraced lengths is crucial to the steel design. Working with double angles for trusses or bracing…

Is there an option to output factored axial forces for vertical bracing to DXF output a bit like displaying end reactions for beams? Its very laborious to either to print off the member forces or use the view / update command and view analysis output…

Hi, With VBA there are OnDesignFileOpened and OnDesignFileClosed commands. You could read & write to a shared text file. That way you could manually count how many applications are open. I don't use any add-on packages myself, so I don't know how vba…

Does anyone else see a problem with having to find third party solutions to this issue? The way that Autocad users deal with it is to just use the licenses they have, when they're out, they're out....no mysterious bill comes every three months. That is…

Michael can you explain the rational behind this please "If you have a select license then the license is good for an hour even if you’re in the application for 20 minutes. If you only have one license and are in it from 8:00 am – 8:20 am and then…

A lot of people see a very big problem with having to find a third party solution for this (the issue is noted over and over again on many CAD forums). Working offline or at site is important, but checking out licenses has worked well for that in the…

Its unfortunate if that's how Bentley is going to leave things. I'm no business expert but I think re-imaging your company as one that gouges its customers quarterly is a bad plan. It wont take long for Management to connect the name Bentley with needlessly…

After a quick browse of several of your CAD competitors forums I found NO instances of anyone complaining about node locked licenses. Why is that? Because that's the way it's supposed to be done. You buy the amount of licenses you need to get the job…
