Automatic thematic legend generation as well as join capabilities are not yet available in Bentley Map but are planned for inclusion in the upcoming Q1 2009 SELECT Update release.

One possible solution is to use "Thematic Resymbolization" in the "Map Manager" for the layer, defining distinct classes for each of the unique property values.

...using "Named Criteria" in the "Bentley Geospatial Administrator" is currently the only way to have the "Map Manager" layer classes not display the underlying criteria expression.

Can thematic maps be saved to dgn?
It is now possible label object and to see these labels without Bentley Map. Is it also possible create thematic maps or other resymbolization and see this outside Bentley Map? Bentley Map is a tool high up in the user pyramide and I would be able to…

The ability to save thematic maps as resymbolized design files does not exist in the current Bentley Map V8 i (SELECTseries 1) release but is under consideration for inclusion in a Bentley Map V8 i release later this year.
