This seems like a question with a simple answer, but I so far I haven't found one. Once a complex terrain model is created, can the underlying dgn files be deleted?

I've got a complex terrain model I'm maintaining in PowerInRoads V8i SS10 on a Windows 10 machine. Upon opening the dgn, I get the following error: I've reinstalled the .Net Framework and scanned the registry for errors. Any ideas?
