  • Bentley Map - GSA - Adding Feature components to a workspace - Part 1

In the BLOG Defining User Workspaces I wrote about the ability to define features, operations, methods, criteria and domains in the different workspaces ( All users and user workspaces). Let's investigate this a little further.

    Background

First of all, in review, we notice that there are certain nodes that are the same in either the All Users tree or the individual user workspaces tree, these are:

Once you have created a Geospatial project, you now have the opportunity to add user workspaces. User workspaces are used in the GSA ( Geospatial Administrator) to :

    • Segregate your data into logic boundaries ( like departments).
    • Define different MicroStation\Bentley Map workspaces, interfaces or applications.
    • A placeholder for some of the feature meta-data.

Sometime while you are setting up the Geospatial project…

    Last tested version : 8.11.07.427 ( Select SERIES 2)

    TR Filed : 287370

There is a issue with GWP, concerning the order of loading GWP Server and ProjectWise Client (PWC) on the server machine. If PWC is loaded AFTER GWP has been loaded on the server, then the discovery of the levels/features in the automated iDPR process will not suceed. The message states that the levels/features had been discovered…

  • Bentley Map - GSA - General Project Parameters

The GSA general project parameters, though only 4 values, are important to the development and deployment of the XFM project in several different other ways.

    • The project name is more than a placeholder. It , along with the user workspace name(s) define the name of the user configfuration file (UCF). Thus the name of the user configuration file, when the metadata and workspace is exported, will become : <project…

By default, the GSA uses a secondary property in the Operations to setup the placement of the annotation feature. This may not be desirable to some installations. The below vide explains the steps top make this into a more desirabe solution.

So in summary, you need to :

    • Change the 2 parameters in the Place Method of the feature.
      • Change the String Source Type to…

  • Bentley Map - Importing Shape Data into XFM Project.

    Purpose

The purpose f this posting is to expand upon the commonly taught interoperability functionality in Bentley Map. Besides the common importing or referencing of shape files, I will be outlining the mapping of the feature sets in the shape file to features defined in the open XFM project. I will also demostrate the mapping of the attributes from the shape file dataset to the XFM dataset. Finally, I will show that…

  • I/RAS B XM configuration variable for skewed raster attachments

Just ran across this when a customer had a couple of raster files that would not display correctly when moving from Microstation SE and I/RAS B SE to Microstation XM / I/RAS B XM. WE had converrted about 60k files from Microstation SE to Microstation XM. Then these files were brought into Projectwsie and the refscan process was applied to rectify the reference file attachments. The problem looked like it was a old tiff…
