Date picker freezes and date cannot be entered manually

Problem

When creating new defects, trying to enter the defect date, clicking on the calendar icon does bring up the date picker but it seems to have frozen and user is unable to move between months or select a date from the calendar.  When trying to enter the date manually an error appears either saying the date cannot be in the future, or the date cannot be after the date required.

Solution

Check what format the dates appear in.  In this case the user's computer was set to use UK format (DD/MM/YYYY), but in the application, the dates appeared in US format (MM/DD/YYYY).  When the browser settings were changed to use the right format, the user was able to create defects and enter dates again.
