Benefits of WorkSpaces and WorkSets

Overview

WorkSpaces and WorkSets are used in OpenBuildings Energy Simulator to save project data.

They can be used to easily coordinate and arrange project data, some aspects of which are covered in this article.

Method

WorkSpaces - allow you to group WorkSets as you need. For example you could have a different WorkSpace for each year, or building type, or client, to name a few.

WorkSets - Within each WorkSpace you will have your project WorkSets.

Please note that both of these can exist in any location you wish -  you can create projects at a shared location as detailed here.

WorkSpaces and WorkSets set up a folder structure that allows for effective management of preferences, such as standards, custom constructions and schedules.

Navigating to a WorkSet in Windows explorer (easiest method shown here) will show the benefit of this process. All project data is organized in a concise manner, with a folder structure as follows:
