“BBES: Error loading BBES Database Server” when loading Electrical

 Product(s):OpenBuildings Designer
 Version(s):CONNECT Edition
 Area:Electrical Design
 Subarea:N/A

Problem Description:

While clicking on the “Load Electrical” button (Building Systems Design > Electrical > Load Electrical), the error message “Error loading BBES Database Server” is displayed in the Message Center as shown below. How can I resolve this?

Solution:

  1. Check whether.NET 3.5 is installed on your system. If not, install it and then try the same workflow again to load Electrical.

A). If your system does not have.NET 3.5, then a window should open automatically when clicked on the “Load Electrical” button as shown below. It can then be installed by clicking on the “Download and install this feature” button.

B). After successful completion of the installation process, a window opens displaying the below mentioned message.

C). The installation of .NET 3.5 can be confirmed by typing “features” in the search field to open the “Windows Features” dialog.

.NET Framework 3.5 should be ticked on as shown in this image.

After installing.NET 3.5, if the same error message is shown in the Message Center, then follow the steps below.

  2. Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update:

A). Click on the link below:

Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update from Official Microsoft Download Center

B). Click on the “Download” button:

C). Then choose the “vcredist_x86.exe” option and click “Download”.

D). After downloading, run it as administrator. Then again try loading the Electrical discipline in OpenBuildings Designer.
