Alerts Module

Overview

Alerts are designed to notify users of device and sensor statuses and update the user with critical sensor data via real-time notifications and emails. The user can also select actions that perform different functions if an alert is triggered. To navigate to the Alerts module, click on the "Alerts" icon on the left side navigation bar (outlined by red box). The user will be directed to the Alert Dashboard page below, which provides the user with a quick visual status indication of the alerts set up by or shared with the user.

This article will review the basics of alerts and navigation of the "Alerts" Dashboard. For details regarding the setup of alerts, please visit the other support articles within the Alerts section to learn more about our alert types and how to set them up.

Alerts Basics

This section of the article will explain the basic elements and configuration options of alerts.

Alert Types

There are three different types of alerts: Data, Status, and Correlation.

Data Alerts notify the user when reported sensor data surpasses a user-defined minimum or maximum data value threshold.

Status Alerts notify the user when Connections, Devices, or Sensors have not responded for a set amount of time. Click the links above to learn more about what each does and how to set each one up.

Correlation Alerts notify the user when the relationship between two different sensors deviates beyond a configured equation threshold.

Alert Status

Enabled- An enabled alert is set, but the alert is currently not triggered.

Disabled- The user can disable an alert, which will not allow the alert to be triggered.

Triggered- The threshold value of a data alert or the non-reporting interval of a status alert has been triggered.

Snoozed- A triggered alert has been set by a user to not continue to trigger or send alerts for a user-determined amount of time.

Alert Priority

When configuring a new alert or editing an existing alert, the user can select the color-coded criticality of the alert. The user can sort by Alert Priority on the Alerts page, and the Alert will be highlighted with its alert priority color upon triggering. Below is a chart with the color scheme assigned to each priority level.

Trigger History

The Trigger History provides the user with insight about past activations of the alert. The trigger history will provide different information based upon the alert type.

Alert Thresholds

Alert thresholds define the data limit, time frame, or equation limit of a configured alert. If this limit is exceeded, the alert will be triggered.

Alert Dashboard Overview

Now that the Alert basics have been reviewed, this section of the article will provide an overview of the Alerts Dashboard, the overview page of the Alerts Module.

1. Create Alert

The    button will take the user to the new alert configuration page, illustrated below. For more information about configuring each alert type and their function, visit the respective CorrelationData, or Status Alert article.

2. Alerts Status Pie Graph

This Pie Graph visually illustrates the Alert Status categorization breakdown of all alerts on the asset. Selecting a status from the legend or chart will remove that status type from the graph.

3. Alerts Currently Triggered Counter

The Alerts Currently Triggered window provides an "at-a-glance" ticker for the number of currently triggered alerts for the asset.

4. Alerts Trigger History Bar Graph

The Bar Graph gives the user a quick diagnostic regarding when alerts were triggered. Selecting a time frame from the legend or chart will remove that time window from the graph.

5. Alert Summary Window

The Alert Summary window provides a list of alerts created by or shared with the user.

At a glance, Alert status can be determined by the indication of the summary window. Blinking alerts are currently triggered (Force Moderate in image below), enabled alerts have black text (AG Alert below), and disabled alerts have grey text (Data Alert Test in image below). Each alert will show the criticality, date last triggered, type of alert, sharing status, and Auto Acknowledge on or off.

1. Selecting the box on the left side of any Alert will allow you to share, copy, or delete the selected alert/s.

2. Search alerts by a keyword.

3. The filter option allows you to filter by priority, Alert type, or Sharing status.

When hovering your curser over a triggered alert additional options will appear in the right side of the alert.

1. The   button will allow you to Acknowledge the alert.

2. The  Icon will allow you to snooze the alert, causing the alert to re-trigger at a later date.

3. The   Icon will disable your alert.

4. The  Icon will take you to the Issue Resolution module, where you can create an issue based on the alert you've selected.

5. The  Icon will allow you to view this alert in your saved digital twin view.

Alerts that are not currently triggered will give you the option to disable, or view the alert in the Digital Twin module.

Clicking on the Alert name will direct the user to the Alert configuration page for the selected alert, where an alert can be edited if needed.
