Performance Issues 

At times you will be asked to assist users that experience issues where MicroStation or similar programs become slow or unresponsive. When this occurs, this can lead to potential data loss as well as frustration for our users.

The first thing that needs to occur in these instances is getting an idea of when the issue started occurring and the steps that potentially will reproduce the issue. Let us start with some common questions you need to ask users to provide answers to if this was logged as a support issue.

There are various scenarios where users might experience problems with performance of product.

With any issue we need the answer to the following frequently asked questions...

FAQs

  1. When did this problem start occurring?
  2. What are the recent changes made in environment?
  3. Identify where the performance issue is from the list (Areas of Performance Issue)
  4. Is it consistent or sporadic?
  5. Is this machine specific? Is it reproducible on other machines?
  6. Did you do a Window’s or OS update? 

Another question that should be considered before logging an issue with Support, have you tried restarting your computer to see is this change the behaviour.
