For OpenPlant Modeler CONNECT Edition, requirement is to create a managed workspace manually without using OpenPlant Project Administrator.

Background

Here requirement is to create managed workspace for OpenPlant Modeler CONNECT Edition manually. Such manual step for creation of managed workspace is handy where user don’t have OpenPlant Project Administrator CONNECT Edition available to machine or due to compatibility related issues with other installed products.

In this wiki article, we will explore how to create managed workspace manually for OpenPlant Modeler CONNECT Edition. As a prerequisite, it is assumed that below components are already available in proper working condition.

  1. ProjectWise Datasource
  2. Local Configuration with desired workspace/workset for OpenPlant Modeler CONNECT

To accomplish this requirement, we will split the workflow into below major sections

  1. Creation of desired folder structure using ProjectWise Client (ProjectWise Explorer)
  2. Creation of required configuration blocks using ProjectWise Administrator.
  3. Assignment of created configuration blocks (CSB): Click Here>>>

Steps to Accomplish

B. Creation of required configuration blocks using ProjectWise Administrator.

  1. Launch ProjectWise Administrator.
  2. Login to desired datasource
  3. Expand Managed Select Predefined.
  4. Right mouse on white space, select New > Configuration Block as shown below.



  5. In New Configuration Block Properties dialog, entered desired configuration name for example PLANT, refer image as shown below.



  6. Click on Configuration Click on Green Add icon & select Add Variable, refer image as shown below.



  7. In New Variable dialog, enter variable name as _USTN_CONFIGURATION.
  8. Check the Locked option & click on Add, refer image as shown below



  9. In Edit Value
  10. Select Value Type as “ProjectWise Folder
  11. Click on three dots for Value. Select configuration folder here PLANT & select OK.
  12. Click on OK again, refer sequential steps as bulleted.



  13. Once done, new variable dialog will update as shown below.



  14. Click on OK.
  15. For New Configuration Block Properties dialog, click on Apply then OK, refer image as shown below.



  16. Now we will create CSB for WorkSpace.
  17. From ProjectWise Administrator, select WorkSpace, right click on white space & select New > Configuration Block. Refer image as shown below.



  18. Enter desired name for workspace csb, switch to configuration tab & click on green add icon to enter configuration variable details. For reference, refer step 5 & 6.
  19. Enter variable name as _USTN_WORKSPACENAME
  20. Check the Locked option & click on Add



  21. In Edit Value dialog.
  22. Enter name of workspace in Value field, here in this case name is PROD_WORKSPACE.
  23. Click on OK, refer image as shown below.



  24. Click on OK again.
  25. Click on green add icon again to define another variable name.
  26. Enter variable name as _USTN_WORKSPACEROOT
  27. Check the Locked option & click on Add. Refer image as shown below.



  28. In Edit Value dialog, select Value Type as ProjectWise Folder.
  29. For Value field, click on three dots & select the workspace folder. Here workspace folder is PROD_WORKSPACE.
  30. Click on OK & OK again, refer sequential bulleted steps.



  31. Click on OK for New Variable dialog as well. Refer image as shown below.



  32. For the same CSB, click on green add icon again to define another variable name.
  33. Enter variable name as _USTN_WORKSETSROOT
  34. Check the Locked option & click on Add. Refer image as shown below.



  35. In Edit Value dialog, select Value Type as ProjectWise Folder.
  36. For Value field, click on three dots & select the workset root folder. Here workspace folder is WorkSets.
  37. Click on OK & OK again, refer sequential bulleted steps.



  38. Once all required variables for workspace CSB (here MECH name) are added, it will look like as shown below.



  39. Click on Apply & OK.
  40. Finally, create one CSB to WorkSet/Project level.



  41. Enter desired CSB name for workset.
  42. Click on Configuration tab & click on Add Variable to define a variable. Refer step 5 & 6 for reference.
  43. Enter variable name as _USTN_WORKSETNAME
  44. Check Locked option, click on Add. Refer sequential steps as shown below.



  45. In Edit Value
  46. Enter name of workset in Value field, here in this case name is OFFSHORE_PROJ.
  47. Click on OK, refer image as shown below.



  48. Click on OK & OK again to close all the open dialogs.
  49. For configuration block, click on Apply & OK, refer image as shown below.
