Background

To generate isometrics, there are two ways to do so. One is insession & second is out session. In this article, we will discuss how to generate isometrics in these two ways. Please note that to generate isometric insession, OpenPlant Isometrics manager must be installed in the same machine.

Steps to Accomplish

Part-1 - Insession

  1. Launch OpenPlant Modeler.
  2. Create a pipeline & place the desired arrangement.

  3. From Piping > Piping Network, go to Pipeline manager, select the pipeline, select the desired style & click on Autogenerate isosheet as shown

Isosheet creation is the important step here. Without this application will not get any link where to create isometric.

  4. One dialogue will pop up for isosheet creation. Click yes & proceed as shown

  5. Again select the pipeline & click on generate iso as shown

Note: There is another way to create isosheet manually.

5.1  For this, select the pipeline & click on isosheet manager as shown

5.1  Initially there is not isosheet created. Refer the attached image

5.2  To create new isosheet, select the desired components from the list & click on generate isosheet as shown

5.3  Isosheet properties dialogue will now pop up. Click on save as shown

5.3  Once done, select the isosheet, select the style & click on generate isometric as shown

  6. Isometric processor dialogue will pop up where the status of isometric can be seen whether the isometric is generated successfully or not. To see the isometric, right click & click show isometric as shown

  7. The resulting isometric is generated as shown

Part-2 - Outsession

  1. Publish the imodel from OpenPlant Modeler as shown

  2. Launch OpenPlant Isometrics Manager from desktop.

  3. Select the desired workspace/workset & click ok.

  4. Click on open & give the model path as shown

  5. Expand the dgn tree, select the isosheet & click on generate isometric as shown

  6. The resulting isometric is shown below same as in part-1
