Problem Description
When trying to open Column Grid tool the following "Structural Modeling Components Initialization Error" dialog appears.
And getting the below message in the Message Center as shown in the image.
Reason
This is happening because of the SpcServer setup file may not have installed in the system. This setup file should get automatically installed with the installation of the Structural Synchronizer.
Overview
1. If we have created a deployment image of the older Structural Synchronizer version then we can find an older SPCServerSetup.08.11.11.21.msi file and it's default installation location is mentioned below-
Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\Engineering
And the actual name of this setup file is Bentley SPC Server V8i SS4 and this we can find in the Programs and Features.
2. In the newer iTwin Analytical Synchronizer version of the deployment image, we can find a newer SPC server setup file i.e. SPCx64.msi and it's default installation location is mentioned below-
Path: C:\Program Files\Bentley\Engineering
And the actual name of this setup file is Structural Property Catalog CONNECT Edition and this we can be found in the Programs and Features.
Steps to resolve
To solve this problem, either you can install the older V8i SPC server setup file or the newer CONNECT Edition SPC server setup file. The recommended version is to install the newer SPC server Setup file.
Note: If you want to install the newer version of SPC Server setup then make sure to uninstall first the older SPC server setup and check the folder gets removed or not from C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\Engineering.
I] How to install older V8i SPC Server setup file?
1. Download Bentley SPC Server V8i SS4 v08.11.11.21 and unzip the file, you can find a file named SPCServerSetup.08.11.11.21.msi.
2. Double click on the msi file to start the installation.
3. Read and accept the terms in the License Agreement then click on the Install button.
4.Please wait until the setup wizard copies/installs the required files.
5. Once done, click on the Finish button.
II] How to install newer CONNECT Edition SPC Server setup file?
1. Download Structural Property Catalog CONNECT Edition v10.00.00.015 and unzip the file, you can find a file named SPCx64.msi.
2. Double click on the msi file to start the installation. Structural Property Catalog CONNECT Edition Setup dialog opens up, click on the Next button.
3. Read and accept the terms in the License Agreement then click on the Next button.
4. Keep the default location as it is and click on the Next button.
5. Now, click on the Install button to start the installation.
6. Once completed, click on the Finish button.
With the installation of one of the setup file your issue should get resolved. If not then please log a service request to get the assistance.
