MicroStation CONNECT Edition Manual Updating From Downloaded Executable
Having obtained the MicroStation CONNECT Installation software executable (*.exe) required version, for most users simply running the *.exe will update the previously installed Update.
But it’s important to check the prerequisites nave not changed and that the Update is compatible with other application installed such as ProjectWise before proceeding. This and other installation information can be found in the Troubleshoot New Installations (Single Users) article.
Upgrading from Previous Versions (XM / V8i)
MicroStation CONNECT Edition is designed so it can be installed and safely coexist on the same workstation as an existing MicroStation V8i or MicroStation V8 XM Edition commercial release. It will not attempt to upgrade or uninstall the existing commercial release, and by default it installs its program and configuration files to different locations than the other commercial release
If you installed MicroStation V8i and MicroStation CONNECT Edition on the same workstation and then uninstalled MicroStation V8i, you must run the Repair tool to make sure the registry and file associations are correct. Note: If you used Microsoft's program to uninstall, the Repair tool will work correctly. However, if you used a third-party's product to uninstall, it may have removed files needed by MicroStation. Upgrading from Previous MicroStation CONNECT Update
Before installing a new Update, consider creating a backup of the previous Update, including any Configuration and Personal Preferences.
While running a new Update executable, it will update the previously installed Update, you may wish to take the opportunity to Uninstall the previous Update first and remove any files left behind prior to reinstalling. For example, the Personal Preference files, as these may have changed between Updates.
